Fine Art Photography for Sale

Original fine art photography on canvas by Reza Daryakenari, made and sold through our Vancouver gallery, with free fully insured shipping across Canada and the USA.

Who makes the photography in this collection?

The photography here is by Reza Daryakenari, who works in stage photography, images made under the light of live performance, printed on canvas and sold through our Vancouver gallery.

We keep this part of the gallery deliberately small. Nearly everything else we sell is painted by hand, so a photograph only earns a wall here when it holds up beside an original painting. Stage work is a narrow subject: performance, and the light that shapes it. If that is what you are looking for, this is the right collection. If you want landscape or street photography, we do not have it, and we would rather say so than point you at something close. Prices across the store start at about $72, every piece ships free and fully insured, 3 to 7 business days in Canada and 5 to 10 in the USA, and you have 14 days at home with a full refund if it does not fit the wall.

What is fine art photography?

Fine art photography is photography made as art first: the photographer composes the image for a wall, not as a record of an event. Light, timing, and framing are planned the way a painter plans a canvas, and the final print is the artwork, produced to exact standards the photographer controls. It is judged by the same test as any painting in our gallery: does it stop you, and does it keep rewarding your eye a year later.

How is photography different from everything else in our gallery?

Photography is the one medium in our gallery that is not a hand-painted original, and we want to be plain about that: these are prints. Everything else we sell is a one-of-a-kind painting or drawing, so this collection is the single exception, and we would rather say so clearly than let you find out later. The work comes from one photographer, printed in limited editions on Epson archival fine art paper with pigment inks, then signed and numbered by hand. Each print ships with a Certificate of Authenticity, the same as our paintings, and the same free insured shipping applies, about 3 to 7 business days in Canada and 5 to 10 to the USA.

Why do editions matter?

An edition is the fixed number of prints that will ever be made of an image, and it is what separates a fine art print from a poster. When a print is numbered, say 4 of 25, the photographer is committing that only 25 will exist, ever. Once they sell, the image is closed. That scarcity gives a print integrity, but we will not oversell it: an edition number is a promise of restraint, not a promise of rising value. Buy the image, not the math.

How does photography hang differently from paintings?

Photography almost always hangs framed behind glass or acrylic, while an original painting usually hangs unglazed with its texture exposed. That single fact changes how you place it, light it, and group it:

Fine art photographOriginal painting
SurfaceSmooth paper under glazingRaised, touchable paint
FramingRequired, with glass or acrylicOptional; canvas can hang bare
LightKeep out of direct sun; watch for glareKeep out of direct sun; no glare issue
GroupingExcellent in pairs, grids, and seriesUsually strongest alone
UniquenessLimited editionOne of a kind

The grouping row matters most in practice. Because editioned prints share a consistent finish, a row of three or a grid of four reads as one deliberate work, which is hard to do with unique paintings. Black and white prints in particular sit comfortably beside our black and white and neutral art, and new prints appear alongside paintings in latest artworks. If you are weighing a print against a painting and want the full picture of our guarantees, our buy with confidence page lays them out in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Why is photography the only printed work you sell?

Because we made one exception to an originals only rule, for fine art photography by a single photographer, Reza Daryakenari. Everything else on our site is a hand painted, one of a kind original, and we do not sell prints or reproductions of paintings at all. His work is sold as signed limited edition prints, which is the normal way photography is collected, and every listing says so.

What does stage photography on Epson canvas with varnish mean for hanging it?

It hangs like a canvas painting, not like a framed photograph. The image is printed on canvas and varnished, so there is no glass and no mat, and no reflection to fight with on a wall opposite a window where a glazed print would be hard to read. It also means the surface is the finish, so handle it by the edges and keep hands off the face.

Are these photographs big enough for a wide wall?

Yes, they are large landscape works, about 125 to 135 cm wide and around 90 cm tall. That proportion sits well above a sofa, a sideboard or a bed, where a tall piece would not. It is too wide for a narrow space between two windows. Measure your wall in cm first and leave about a hand width of clear wall on each side.

Do the 14-day trial and the Lifetime Trade-Back apply to photography as well?

Yes, both apply exactly as they do to the paintings. Take it home, live with it for up to 14 days, and if it is wrong, return it for a full refund with return shipping paid by us. Years later you can send it back in good condition for store credit under the Lifetime Trade-Back. Free insured shipping and the Certificate of Authenticity are the same too.

If the edition sells out, can I get another copy later?

No. These are limited editions, so once the numbered copies are gone we do not reprint them. The listing then moves into our sold archive and stays online permanently instead of being deleted, which is useful if you want to show us what you missed and ask for something close. If a piece here matters to you, do not wait for a restock, because there is not one.

How does the price compare with a painting of the same width?

The photography here sits at about $950 to about $1,100, which is usually less than a hand painted canvas at the same 125 to 135 cm width. A painting that wide takes weeks of studio time and exists only once, so it carries a higher price. You are trading being the only owner for size and price. Both come with free insured shipping and a Certificate of Authenticity.

What is a fine art photograph?

A fine art photograph is an image created as an artwork rather than as documentation, printed by or for the photographer to exact standards on archival materials. The print itself is the art object. Ours are made on Epson fine art paper with pigment inks, then signed and numbered by the photographer.

Are these prints or originals?

They are prints, and we say so openly. Fine art photography is the one medium in our gallery that is not a one-of-a-kind painting. Each image exists as a small, fixed edition of signed and numbered prints. Every other artwork we sell is a hand-painted original with no reproductions made.

What does signed and numbered mean?

Signed means the photographer has hand-signed the print, confirming they approved this exact copy. Numbered means it is marked with its place in the edition, such as 4 of 25, so you know how many exist in total. Together with the Certificate of Authenticity, this documents exactly what you own.

How much does fine art photography cost?

Editioned prints generally cost less than an original painting of similar size, because more than one exists. That makes photography an honest entry point into collecting; our gallery's prices overall start around $72. Larger prints and images from nearly sold-out editions sit higher. The price always reflects edition size and print dimensions.

How do I care for a photographic print?

Keep it framed behind glass or acrylic, out of direct sunlight, and away from bathrooms or other humid rooms. Pigment prints on archival paper are rated to last generations under those conditions. Never touch the print surface with bare fingers; oils leave permanent marks. Dust the glazing, not the print.

How is a print shipped?

Shipping is free and fully insured, like everything we sell. Delivery within Canada takes about 3 to 7 business days and to the USA about 5 to 10. Each print is packed by us in Vancouver with rigid protection, and it arrives with its Certificate of Authenticity stating the edition details.

When should I buy a painting instead of a photograph?

Buy a painting if texture and uniqueness are the point for you: visible brushwork, the knowledge that only one exists, the presence of the artist's hand. A print behind glass cannot offer those. Photography wins on precision, series hanging, and price. Neither is superior; they simply do different jobs on a wall.
