History is not behind us. It is alive in every gesture, every symbol, every structure we inherit. I paint ancient subjects not to document them but to ask what they mean now — what Egypt, what myth, what the ancient world has to say to the contemporary eye. Acrylic is the right medium for this: fast, contemporary, unsentimental.
