About the Artist
Reza Daryakenari is a stage photographer and visual storyteller whose work captures the theatrical moment where performance, identity, and cultural heritage intersect. His photography — shot on stage and in controlled studio environments — transforms theatrical scenes into painterly compositions that explore Iranian cultural narratives, the tension between tradition and modernity, and the fragile boundary between performance and self.
Artist Statement
The stage is where truth hides in plain sight. A performer is never more honest than when playing someone else. My photography does not document theatre — it interrogates it. What is being performed? What is being preserved? What is being lost? Every frame is a question about identity, culture, and the act of seeing.

Cinematic compositions with dramatic chiaroscuro lighting, rich saturated colours against deep blacks, and a stillness that contradicts the theatrical subject matter. Each image reads like a single frame from a film — narrative-dense and compositionally precise.
