Why a Vancouver art gallery belongs in the West End

The West End is a 1.98 square kilometre neighbourhood squeezed between Stanley Park, English Bay, Coal Harbour, and downtown Vancouver. It holds roughly 47,200 people in that space, a density of about 23,838 people per square kilometre, which is the highest of any neighbourhood in Canada. Most of that population lives in highrise towers with floor-to-ceiling windows and blank concrete walls that a builder never furnishes. Nearly half the neighbourhood is between 20 and 39 years old: people buying their first serious piece of art for a home they intend to live in for years, not decades.

That combination, small footprint, high density, a lot of new vertical wall space, is why a gallery selling original paintings makes sense here. VanArtHub is on Davie Street between Bute and Jervis, a short walk from Davie Village, Vancouver's LGBTQ+ commercial strip between Burrard and Bute, and about a 12-minute walk from English Bay Beach and the Stanley Park seawall. A visitor can see a painting on the wall, walk to the water, and be back in a condo above the gallery inside twenty minutes.

Landmarks around the gallery

The gallery is inside walking distance of the West End's best-known landmarks, all useful reference points if you are giving directions to a courier or planning a visit.

  • Stanley Park406-hectare park at the neighbourhood's northwest edge, about a 15-minute walk from the gallery along Davie or Denman Street.
  • English Bay BeachThe West End's beach on Burrard Inlet, home to the annual Celebration of Light fireworks each summer.
  • Davie VillageVancouver's LGBTQ+ commercial strip, running along Davie Street between Burrard and Bute, a few minutes' walk east of the gallery.
  • Robson StreetA 2.5 km shopping and dining corridor that clips the West End's northeast edge on its way from BC Place to Stanley Park's Lost Lagoon.

What West End buyers actually ask for

Most West End units are one and two-bedroom highrise suites with 8 to 9-foot ceilings and long, uninterrupted walls facing the window line, the classic spot for a single large statement piece rather than a cluster of small frames. Because so many residents are renters or recent buyers furnishing a home for the first time, the two most common requests at the gallery are a piece under $1,000 for a first purchase, and a larger original, usually 30 by 40 inches or bigger, sized for the main wall in an open-concept living and dining room.

The gallery also gets a steady stream of interior designers working on West End and Coal Harbour condo renovations, sourcing one or two originals to finish a project rather than a full room of matching prints. If that is your project, the trade and art advisory program handles multi-piece sourcing with a real budget and timeline.

A West End collector's experience

"I live three buildings down on Davie and had walked past the gallery for months before I finally went in. The piece I bought filled the wall behind my couch exactly the way I hoped, and I did not have to arrange shipping since I just carried it home."

Local, not remote

VanArtHub is not a warehouse with a Vancouver mailing address. The gallery on Davie Street is staffed daily, several of the represented artists, including Melina Ghaemi, Marjan Mousavi, Roshan, Phaedra, and Maria, live and work in the city, and the team who answers the phone is the same team standing in the room with the paintings. Is the West End the same as Davie Village?

No, Davie Village is a commercial strip inside the West End, running along Davie Street between Burrard and Bute. The West End is the full neighbourhood around it, bounded by Stanley Park, English Bay, Coal Harbour, and downtown Vancouver. The gallery sits in the West End, just west of the Davie Village strip itself.

Do I need an appointment to visit the gallery?

No appointment is needed. The VanArtHub gallery is open seven days a week: Monday to Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call or text (672) 558-8714 first if you want to confirm a specific painting is still on the wall.

What size of painting works best in a West End condo?

Most West End units are highrise one and two-bedroom suites with long window-line walls, so a single large original, often 30 by 40 inches or bigger, tends to work better as a main-wall statement piece than several small frames. VanArtHub's gallery staff can recommend a size once they know the wall's dimensions.

How much does an original painting cost at the West End gallery?

As of September 5, 2026, VanArtHub carries 148 active original paintings priced from $531 to $8,000, with 60 pieces under $1,000 and 9 under $700. Every price is the same whether you buy in the Davie Street gallery or online.

Can I park near the gallery on Davie Street?

Metered on-street parking is available along Davie Street and the surrounding side streets in the West End; VanArtHub does not have a dedicated parking lot. Bus routes 6 (Davie) and 5 (Robson) both stop within a block of 1242 Davie Street.

Do you deliver to West End condo buildings?

Yes. VanArtHub ships free anywhere in Canada, typically arriving in 3 to 7 business days, including to a West End condo's concierge or lobby. Buyers who live nearby often carry a purchase home directly from the gallery instead.

Do West End interior designers source art from VanArtHub?

Yes. VanArtHub's gallery on Davie Street regularly works with interior designers on West End and Coal Harbour condo projects, sourcing one or more original paintings to finish a renovation through its trade and art advisory program.

What happens if a painting does not suit my condo once it is hung?

Every VanArtHub painting comes with a 14-day trial. If a piece does not work on the wall once you live with it, you can return it within 14 days for a full refund, and VanArtHub pays the return shipping, whether you bought it in the West End gallery or online.
