Original oil and acrylic paintings selected for five-star hospitality interiors, each hand-painted, signed, and one of a kind, scaled for lobbies, suites, and public spaces.
A hotel lobby needs one large work, usually 48 by 60 inches or bigger, because the wall behind reception is read from across the room and anything smaller disappears at that distance. Double-height lobbies push the number up again. If the wall runs two storeys, a piece under a metre and a half will look far too small for it, however good the painting is. A safe approach is to fill about two thirds of the width of the wall section the art sits on, then check the sightline from the entrance door rather than from close up.
Scale is only half of the decision. The palette has to sit with the designer's finishes instead of competing with them, which is why abstract and fine art work is the usual choice for a lobby: it creates atmosphere without telling guests a story they did not ask for. Every painting here is an original, one of a kind, so no other property will have the same piece on its wall.
What separates art in a five-star hotel from ordinary hotel decor?
The difference is intent: a luxury property treats art as a curated program with a point of view, while an ordinary hotel treats it as wall covering bought by the square metre. Guests cannot always name that difference, but they feel it immediately. In a five-star lobby, the painting was chosen for that wall, at that scale, in conversation with the architecture. Down the street, a similar-looking print was ordered from a catalogue in bulk. Everything we ship is a hand-painted, signed original from our Vancouver gallery, which puts our work on the curated side of that line by definition. Our opinion, held firmly: a property cannot charge luxury rates on catalogue walls forever. Guests at that level have seen too many hotels to be fooled.
Should luxury hotel suites have original art?
Yes, suites are exactly where originals earn their cost, because suite guests spend hours alone with the walls and notice what corridor traffic never would. A suite guest reads the brushwork over morning coffee. They spot a signature. Some look the piece up. That private discovery, the realization that the hotel put a one-of-a-kind painting in a room only they occupy, is a luxury signal money struggles to buy any other way. It also scales sensibly: a property might hang originals in twelve suites while using quality framed work in standard rooms, and no guest experiences the compromise. Suite-level pieces are typically drawn from our Oil Paintings and fine art collections, where depth of surface rewards close, unhurried viewing.
How do luxury hotels use art to tell a story floor by floor?
The strongest luxury programs give each floor or zone its own quiet theme, so moving through the building feels like moving through chapters rather than repetitions. This does not mean labelling floors like a museum. It means the third floor leans coastal and cool while the fifth leans warm and mineral, and a returning guest half-notices the building has moods. The elevator lobby on each floor is the natural anchor for this, one distinct painting per landing. It is a small budget line with outsized effect, because elevator lobbies are moments of pause. The rest of the wayfinding follows: guests start remembering floors by their art, which is friendlier than remembering them by number.
How do you plan a full luxury art program?
Plan by zone, matching the level of investment to how long guests dwell in each space.
Zone
Art approach
Why
Lobby
One museum-scale original
Longest captive viewing in the building
Suites
Signed originals, one per suite
Private, unhurried attention
Elevator landings
One distinct piece per floor
Pause points, floor identity
Restaurant and bar
Bold work guests photograph
Social sharing, evening atmosphere
Corridors
Quieter series, glazed where traffic demands
Rhythm without noise
An honest limit: we are one gallery, and a 300-room flagship may need more works than any single source should supply, so use us for the anchor walls rather than everywhere. Anchor pieces live in our luxury wall art collection, lobby-scale options in hotel lobby art. Every painting arrives insured, documented with a Certificate of Authenticity, and ready to hang.
Frequently asked questions
Can we buy the same painting twice so two identical rooms match?
No, and this is the real limit of buying originals for a hotel. Every piece is one of a kind, so two rooms cannot hold the same painting. What we do instead is group works by the same artist, or by palette and size, so a floor feels related while each room holds something unique. Tell us the room count early and we will plan the grouping around it.
What happens if a guest damages one of your paintings a year after we bought it?
Send us photographs and we will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired, roughly what that costs, or whether the piece is finished. We are a gallery, not a restoration studio, so a serious tear goes to a conservator. Small knocks on a canvas surface are often fixable. Damage is not covered by the Lifetime Trade-Back, which requires the work to come back in good condition.
Do you ship hotel orders outside Canada and the United States?
We ship anywhere we can insure the parcel, though our regular routes are Canada, about 3 to 7 business days, and the USA, about 5 to 10. Shipping on both is free and fully insured. For a hotel order going further, ask us before you commit, because we quote the freight and the export paperwork case by case instead of promising a date we cannot hold.
Does the 14-day trial apply to a large multi-room hotel order?
The same 14 days apply, and we pay return shipping if pieces come back. For a multi-room order we would rather send two or three sample works first, so you can hang them in a finished room and confirm the look before the rest ships. That avoids crating twenty paintings back to Vancouver. Give us your install date and we will build the delivery schedule around it.
How do we use one gallery across a whole hotel without it looking repetitive?
Pick two artists rather than one, and vary the size hard. A floor reads as curated when the same two hands appear at different scales, for example a large piece at the lift lobby and smaller works inside the rooms. Painters like Phaedra, Nahira and Roshan each have enough range to carry that. Send us the floor plan and we will shortlist against it for free.
If we need to replace a piece in five years, can we get something similar?
We can get you close, though never identical, because the original will be sold and cannot be repeated. Every sold piece stays online permanently in our archive, so send us that page and we will match the artist, size and palette with current work. Keeping sold pieces online also means a hotel can document a whole collection years later from the same links.
What makes hotel art meet a five-star standard?
Five-star art is original, attributed to a named artist, sized correctly for its wall, and lit on purpose. Those four things separate a luxury property from a good one far more than the price of any single piece. A $900 original under a proper picture light reads better than a $4,000 canvas hung too high in the dark.
How much do luxury hotels spend on art for a suite?
A suite art allowance of $2,000 to $8,000 is normal at the five-star level, covering three to six original works across the living area, bedroom, and entry hall. Signature and presidential suites go well beyond that. The useful rule is to spend per suite what you would spend on ten standard rooms, and buy fewer, larger, better pieces.
Should suite artwork be larger than standard room artwork?
Yes, suite art should be larger, because suite walls are longer and the ceilings are usually higher, so a piece sized for a standard room looks lost. In a suite living area, plan on 150 to 200 cm (60 to 79 inches) on the long side for the main work, then one medium piece per secondary wall.
How does floor-by-floor art storytelling work in a hotel?
Give each floor one subject or palette so a returning guest learns the building: water on three, forest on four, city light on five. Lift lobbies carry the largest piece and set the theme, corridors carry smaller work in the same family, and rooms stay quiet. It also solves a practical problem, because staff and guests can describe where they are.
How do we look after original paintings in a hotel suite?
Dust the surface with a dry, soft brush every few months, keep paintings off the wall shared with a bathroom, and tell housekeeping never to use spray cleaner near a canvas. Oil and acrylic both dislike steam and direct sun. If a piece gets scuffed, message us with a photo, because small surface repairs are usually simple and we will advise.
Do hotel owners get provenance records for the art?
Yes, each work ships with a Certificate of Authenticity, and we keep a permanent record of the artist, title, year, and original sale so ownership can be traced later. That record travels with the asset if the property changes hands. Our Lifetime Trade-Back stays attached to the piece too, so it can be returned for store credit toward a refurbishment.
When is an original painting the wrong choice for a luxury hotel room?
Skip originals in rooms where the art sits within arm's reach of a bath, a kettle, or a minibar, and in any room the property rents out for events. Steam, splashes, and crowds ruin canvases. Put originals on the bedroom and living walls, use framed works behind glass in wet zones, and accept that some walls should stay bare.
What kind of art works best in a luxury hotel lobby?
Large-scale original paintings, 48x60 inches or larger, in oil or acrylic. Abstract and fine art works create atmosphere without dictating narrative. The art should feel singular, not mass-produced.
Do you supply art for multiple hotel properties?
Yes. VanArtHub works with hospitality groups to develop coherent art programs across properties: brand consistency with unique original works at each location. Trade pricing and coordinated logistics standard.
How quickly can hotel art be delivered for a pre-opening deadline?
In-stock works ship within 5 business days. Custom commissions for full property programs typically require 8-12 weeks. Rush service available for time-sensitive openings.

Exceptional Service and a Truly Memorable Art Purchase
I had a wonderful experience with Van Art Hub Gallery. I came across two pieces by Melina Ghaemi — *Mad Mirrors* and *Small World in the Hands of a Stranger* — and immediately fell in love with them.
I contacted Van Art Hub Gallery, and they were incredibly helpful throughout the entire process, from arranging the payment to organizing the shipping. At first, I was a little skeptical and nervous about how everything would work, especially since the paintings were still in Iran and it was shortly after the war. But the gallery handled everything with such professionalism and care that my concerns quickly disappeared. Amazingly, they were able to get the paintings to Canada in just two days!
The pieces are absolutely captivating. Even when I picked them up from the frame maker and was simply carrying them to my car, several people stopped and asked me about the paintings. That says a lot about how striking and special Melina Ghaemi’s work is.
A big thank you to Van Art Hub Gallery for making this experience so smooth and enjoyable. I truly appreciated their professionalism, communication, honesty, and integrity throughout the entire process. I would happily work with them again and highly recommend them to anyone interested in purchasing art through the gallery.
