In practice that means we start from your drawings and finishes rather than from a catalogue. You give us the wall dimensions, the sightlines, the palette the interior is built on, and the date the property has to be ready. We come back with a shortlist of originals that fit those limits, with sizes, materials, and prices set out wall by wall.

For a group with several properties, we coordinate the curation across all of them so the collection reads as one brand, and no two hotels receive the same painting. Why is everything in this group oil rather than acrylic?

Because oil is what these particular artists work in, and it suits hotel interiors. Oil holds depth under low, warm lighting where acrylic can flatten out, and a varnished oil surface can be dusted for years without changing. The trade-off is time. An oil painting is built in layers with drying between them, so a commission in oil takes considerably longer than an acrylic would.

What is the largest oil painting available here for a feature wall?

About 120 cm wide and about 150 cm tall in this group, which is roughly 47 by 59 inches. That covers a headboard wall or a lift lobby panel, but not a double-height atrium. For anything larger we either build a set of two or three related pieces, or ask an artist whether they will take a commission at that scale. Ask early, because large oils take months.

Can we see the artwork under our own hotel lighting before we commit to the order?

Yes, and there are two ways to do it. Order one piece, hang it in a finished room, and use the 14 days to judge it under your real lighting, sending it back at our cost if it fails. Or, if you can reach Vancouver, book a private viewing at the studio and bring your fabric and finish samples. Photographs never settle how an oil behaves under warm downlights.

Who owns the copyright if we buy a painting for our hotel?

The artist keeps the copyright and you own the physical painting. That means you can hang it, insure it and resell it, but reproducing the image in a brochure, on your website or on room keys needs the artist's written permission. Ask us and we will put the request to them for you. Most say yes when the hotel credits the artist by name.

What should we do with the shipping boxes after the artwork is installed?

Keep them, at least until the 14-day trial has run out. A return has to travel in its original box, and hotel installs often finish weeks before anyone decides a piece is right for the room. After that, flat-pack the boxes into a service room. If you ever use the Lifetime Trade-Back, having the correct box saves you sourcing a crate for an odd size.
