The first question everyone asks about renting art is what it costs. The honest answer is that there is no single price, because the right number depends on the art and how long you keep it.
This page explains how we price rentals of original, hand-signed Canadian paintings, what the terms include, and how to get a firm quote for your space in the Vancouver area.
How rental is priced
Two things set the rate: the piece and the length of the hire.

The piece. A small canvas and a large statement painting are not worth the same, so they do not rent for the same. The value of the work is the main driver.

The length of the hire. A day, a weekend, a listing period, or a rolling monthly arrangement all price differently. Longer hires are handled differently from a one-night event.

How many pieces. Filling a full office or a whole staged home costs more than a single feature wall.
We do not publish a flat rate card, because a flat rate would be wrong for most people. A number that fits a single small canvas for one evening would be far too high for a large multi-piece office arrangement per piece, and the other way around. Instead we quote against your actual pieces and dates. Tell us what you want and how long, and you get a real number, not a guess.
What the terms cover
Every rental comes with written terms so both sides know where they stand. The terms set out:

Care. How to look after the work while it is with you, kept simple. Original paintings need reasonable care, out of direct harsh sun and away from damp, which is the same care any good painting wants.

Insurance. How the work is covered during the hire, so an accident is not a disaster. We walk through what is covered and what you are responsible for before anything leaves the studio.

Handling. We deliver, install, and collect in the Vancouver area, so the risky parts of moving and hanging art are on us, not you.

Length and renewal. When the hire ends, and how to extend it if you want to keep the work longer.
Damage and accidents
We would rather be plain about this than leave you guessing. Normal wear from a piece hanging on a wall is expected and not a problem. Real damage, a tear or a spill, is what the insurance side of the terms is for. We go through exactly how that works with you up front, so if something happens, you already know the process. No honest gallery pretends accidents never happen. We just make sure you are not blindsided by them.
Turning rental into ownership
Renting is not money spent for nothing. Many of our rentals can convert to a purchase, and we offer a rent-to-own path where the payments you already made count toward the price of the piece. If you think you might want to keep the work, tell us at the start and we will set the terms up that way. Every painting we sell is original and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, whether you buy it outright or grow into owning it through rent-to-own.

Why is there no fixed price list?
